Why book direct — and how we keep it safe

Booking directly with an owner gets you the same home at a better price. The one legitimate worry is trust — so trust is the entire job of this directory.

How verification works

Before a property is listed here, we confirm three things:

• The owner is a real, reachable person — identity confirmed during onboarding.
• They control the direct-booking site they link to — proven with a verification token on their site or matching calendar feeds.
• Their established platform listing is really theirs — every listing here cross-links the same home on Airbnb/VRBO, so you can read years of real review history before booking direct.

Why direct is cheaper

Major platforms now take 15% or more of every booking. Owners who take bookings on their own site skip that cut — and most pass the savings on, because a direct guest at a lower price still pays them more than a platform guest at a higher one.

Staying safe booking direct

• Book on the owner’s own site with a credit card — card networks give you dispute rights.
• Expect a rental agreement and clear cancellation terms before you pay. A real host has both.
• Check the cross-linked Airbnb/VRBO review history — it’s the same home and the same host.
• Never pay by wire transfer or gift card, here or anywhere.
